Treating Lipomas With Mesotherapy

Lipomas are benign (not cancerous), slow-growing tumors that come from fat cells.  They are a fatty lump that forms between the skin and the muscle layer.  They often appear as distinct hard masses and they can grow to be several centimeters in size.

The traditional treatment for a lipoma is surgery or liposuction, but they can also be treated with mesotherapy. The mesotherapy treatment often contains a combination of hormones, enzymes, vasodilators and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that arae injected into the area.

Symptoms of Lipoma

The fatty flat lumps called lipomas can be treated with mesotherapy.
They are usually round, moveable, flattened lumps under the skin. They feel soft and doughy or rubbery. Lipomas usually grow in the neck, shoulders, back, or arms.

Some people don’t feel the limpoma at all and others feel the flat pancake-like deposit as they would a bruise or a sore. For some it feels like a mild tenderness.

Lipomas are the most common no cancerous tumor in adults. They can occur at any age, but they often appear when you're between 40 and 60 years of age. Sometimes they run in families. Sometimes they are caused by an injury. Most lipomas do not hurt unless they are squeezed or bruised.

Usually a lipoma has been growing for years before you might notice it. It is fairly common to have more than one. If you notice a lump or swelling anywhere on your body.

Causes of Lipomas

There is no particular cause for a lipoma. They just grown on their own over a long period of time. They may be the result of aging and they are also thought to be the result of hereidtary.

Care and Treatment

As lipomas are almost always benign, they usually do not need treatment. However, many people opt to get them treated with mesotherapy to try and shrink and minimize the appearance and tenderness of it. If that does not work then liposuction or surgery is the next step.

The outlook for individuals who have lipomas is excellent because whether they non life threatening masses. Psychologically some people feel better if the mass is removed depending on where it is on the body. If mesotherapy succeeds, then they can be spared the discomfort of surgery.
